  • And now its story time with Allison

So for Labor Day Weekend, we decided to go to New York...

to see the Statue of Liberty...

    and Central Park...

and of course, to see Jeff and Ashley to celebrate their recent engagement. (Jeff is Matt's best friend from college).

We spent time being tourists on Times Square...

And had a most wonderful weekend.

    The END

  • I really miss thunder storms.

I really miss thunderstorms.  And even though I will regret it as soon as I type it...I miss the Midwest weather.  I want rain!  It hasn't rained here since April and that was only a sprinkle.  This has been one of driest winters, followed by the driest spring, raced by a dry, hot summer.  I can't believe its been a year since I moved to California.  Time flies- that's for sure. College seems so 50 years ago, even though I am reminded of my youth every time I go to work.  Work has been very busy.  This time last year it was slow- definitely not that way now...

I have noticed a very unbalanced life lately.  About 80% of my life is spent at work, working, or doing work, or traveling to work.  15% of it is left for Matt and 5% is left for God, church, and any sort of service.  I have lost my passion for the things of God, probably because I am too tired for anything else.   Matt starts back to school next week, he's on the back half of his master's now.  But it is sad.  We don't see each other as often so I work more and I feel this unbalanced cycle might get worse...

So far for August, Matt's parents came for a visit.  Such lovely people.  I got to chauffeur them around for a while for the Drum Corps International show (Matt was working the show, so I drove his parents to the venue).

It was held at the famous Rose Bowl on Pasadena.  Great town, by the way.  I was such a band nerd that night watching all the marching, listening to the music, and analyzing the pageantry.

Here's a picture of Matt and his parents.  Aren't they all so cute?!?!

Later during their visit, Matt's parents took us out to a dinner at "Benehana."  Its is Asian restaurant where they cook the food right in front of you and do tricks.  It was awesome.  Matt and I shared our favorite chilled, unfiltered, Nigori sake. (You can see the bottle in the lower left of the picture).  We enjoyed amazing shrimp appetizers, yummy fresh off the grill brown rice, and savory chicken. Some of the best I have ever had.  On Tuesday, Matt's parents flew back to Illinois and ever since we have been Wii-ing it constantly to finish Zelda, Twilight Princess. (We finished it tonight.  Or I should say Matt finished it, I just coached from behind).

September should be very fun.  We will spend labor day weekend on a much needed vacation to New York City, then I will be off to Utah for a photoshoot, then we will jam at a Pink Martini concert for my birthday on the 14th (even though my birthday isn't until the 26th), then of course its my birthday, and then the Yamaha family outing to Disneyland.  And that about summarizes what September will be.
